The Story
Way Back
Formed in 1989 by college students near Kyle Field, Against the Grain aimed to deliver electrifying performances as the house band at the Texas Hall of Fame in Bryan, TX. Performing every Tuesday night in front of local audiences the band went on to tour Texas and perform as the opening act for artists like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Steve Wariner and many more. As the band members honed their musical skills, they embarked on separate journeys, performing globally with renowned artists in grand venues and recording hit tracks. After almost two decades, the band reunited in 2021, reshaping the Texas music scene as the state's leading Dancehall cover band.
Reunited
Initially, the idea of performing again in dance halls across Texas seemed like a distant dream. However, as the band improved and their talent flourished, the thrill of entertaining audiences with popular hits became evident. Transitioning from local gigs in central Texas, the band recognized the need to expand their reach. They embarked on numerous performances, including appearances at fairs and festivals, in cities across the state. Their extensive experience on the road, showcasing a diverse repertoire, has played a vital role in refining their sound and captivating audiences with an electrifying show.
The Future
We're getting ready to hit the road to promote great dancehall music across the state of Texas. While our set list will showcase our new songs at every event, we'll also delve into fan favorites from the 70's, 80's and 90's and 2000's.
